Idaho’s new 511 Transit System continues to grow! With the addition of North Idaho Community Express (NICE), bus riders can now track five (5) of Idaho’s fixed route providers via the online tool.
Bus riders utilizing the NICE service from Couer d’ Alene to Sandpoint can easily track the progress of the bus along the route, identify stops, and check for potential delays or schedule changes prior to heading to catch the bus.
“North Idaho Community Express is excited to be part of the new 511 Transit System. The online system will allow us to better serve those riders utilizing our service. We look forward to working with CTAI, ITD, and other providers to continue to improve transportation options for people living and traveling in our region and throughout Idaho,” said Helen Stephens, NICE Director.
The new system, found at 511.idaho.gov, made its debut in March of this year, with online schedule and route information for Citylink, START Bus, Pocatello Regional Transit and Northwestern Trailways. In the coming months, eight (8) additional providers will be added, including Valley Regional Transit, Treasure Valley Transit, City of Lewiston, Regional Public Transportation, Salt Lake Express, Targhee Regional Public Transit Authority and Mountain Rides Transit Authority.
“511 Transit provides customers and providers a great opportunity to engage,” said Heather Wheeler of CTAI. “It also allows customers quick, easy access to information related to their daily transportation needs, while providing service providers the ability to improve the customer experience. At a higher level it demonstrates where we can improve coordination and efficiency in our existing system.”
