ITD has enacted an Accommodation/Return to Work (A/RTW) policy that clarifies the roles of employees, supervisors and Human Resource Services when employees return to work after an illness or injury.
The policy, A-18-08, applies regardless of whether the illness or injury is work related. It is supported by state and federal laws.
The A/RTW processes can be somewhat complex and perhaps confusing, explains Carlin Hill, benefits coordinator in the HRS office. She is scheduling supervisor meetings throughout the department over the next few months to clarify the policy and answer questions about accommodations and return to work.
Employees who have questions about the process or need to notify the A/RTW Team of a qualifying event can do so at sending an e-mail message.
