Headquarters employees appreciated during special week
Rebecca Howell really feels appreciated.
A transportation technician, senior, in the Materials Section at Headquarters, Howell prepared the strawberry cream cake with vanilla frosting that won top honors last week during State Employee Appreciation Week.
To prove she really knows her way around the kitchen, she also estimated that a jar contained 1,599 marshmallows in a guessing contest. She missed the actual count by four (1,603) but was close enough to win that honor as well. Appropriately, her rewards for the closest guess included gift certificates to both Pastry Perfection and The Cheesecake Factory.
Any bets The Cheesecake Factory serves strawberry cream cakes with vanilla frosting?
Employees at Headquarters paused to appreciate each other with a variety of other activities, including educational presentations in the Auditorium, free chair massages, a pasta lunch, cake and ice cream, a fitness walk, prize drawings and a “dress like your favorite personality” event.
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” won first place in the “dress like your favorite personality” contest. George Walter, Dana Bailey, Kacie Mcdonald, Betty Reina, and Maureen Ferris did an awesome job portraying everyone’s favorite bounty hunter.
Other winners were “Kaoroke Lady” Lois Wood, “Carlin Hill” Dianna Magstadt, and “Hawaiian Girl” Mary Lockwood. Honorable mention went to Michelle “Darth Vader” George and Michelle “The Red Sox Fan” Rowland.
Thank you for the participation – everyone had a great time.
All of the amenities were provided through donations, including contributions from ITD’s executive team members and DOROLCO.
“The Employee Appreciation Committee would like to thank everyone for participating, especially those who volunteered to help with the activities. Our goal was to provide practical activities and items for HQ employees, along with some fun and relaxation along the way. We hope everyone enjoyed this week and we welcome your feedback for next year’s activities.”
