Gov. Jim Risch joined parents, school administrators, teachers and students this week in a short walk to Koelsch Elementary School. They were among dozens of schools statewide participating in the International Walk to School event that promotes walking or bicycling. Walking to school provides children with valuable exercise, helps reduce congestion, cuts down on gas consumption and helps to improve the environment. Besides, as a group activity, it's just plain fun. ITD, through its Safe Routes to School program, supports the event that involves millions of students throughout the world.
