ITD will implement a number of significant changes to employee use of e-mail, effective June 1, to address growing demand on the system and its storage capacity, according to Susan K. Simmons, Administrator of the Administration Division.
A memo distributed to all ITD employees Monday (April 10) outlines the changes and reminds employees to use discretion when sending and receiving e-mail.
“After a review of currently stored e-mail, we found that in addition to work-related e-mails, staff are also sending and receiving e-mails containing information not directly related to work activities, including video clips, chain letters, advertisements, music and personal photographs,” Simmons explains in her memo.
Among the major changes coming June 1 are:
“I have asked the Corporate IT staff to be sensitive to your needs during this transition,” Simmons says. “Please contact Liza Fox (334-8222) if you have any questions. I appreciate your cooperation as we more responsibility use our limited e-mail support resources.”
