technology displayed at capitol
As part of the process, ITD developed a Web service (data connection) between the Secretary of State office and the Division of Motor Vehicles that enabled election verification in real time, explains ITD Webmaster Steve Jackson.
Considered a statewide leader in the application of online technology, ITD recently participated in Digital Government Day at the state capitol. The department demonstrated to legislators and county commissioners who were attending meetings in the capitol the capability of ITD technology projects. Included were video simulations and new Web applications such as the daily news tool available on ITD’s Intranet.
“We were well received, and the session was very well attended this year,” Jackson said. “Reggie Phipps (DMV’s Port of Entry/Special Permits section) has been to them every year and said this was the best she has experienced.”

Cathy Ford’s award-winning picture of invasive mustard will appear in the highlights section of the November 2005 edition.
All ITD employees are eligible to submit photographs of roadside vegetation to be considered for entry in next year’s FHWA contest. Anyone interested in participating should contact Sweaney at 334-8465.
