public involvement campaign for an ITD corridor study recently
received two awards.
The Orchard to Gowen publicity campaign received an Award
of Distinction and the campaign logo received honorable mention
from the Communicator Awards. The Award of Distinction is
the second highest level award.
The Communicator Awards is an international competition that
recognizes outstanding work in the communication field. Entries
are judged by industry professionals who look for companies
and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence
and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
There were 3,743 entries from throughout the United States
and several foreign countries in the Communicator Awards 2004
Print Media competition.
The ITD project uses public input to help develop a plan
for updating the I-84 corridor between the Orchard and Gowen
Interchanges in Boise. The corridor once served as the citys
main artery and was replaced with an interstate system in
the late 1960s. The route now needs to be updated.
The public involvement campaign was designed by Lynda Friesz
Public Relations, Inc. and ITD Public Involvement Coordinator
Gwen Smith. Washington Group International is leading the
project team in designing an interstate corridor that addresses
future traffic needs.
