Judge to hear case over landing at Hailey airport

KTVB/Associated Press
HAILEY – A motion before a federal judge contends a multi-millionaire from California has no legal grounds to demand that Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey waive restrictions so he can land.

Ronald Tutor has a vacation home near Sun Valley. He filed a lawsuit saying airport officials should allow him to land his Boeing 737. But Friedman officials say the plane violates weight restrictions.

Airport attorney Peter Kirsch has asked federal Judge Lynn Winmill to dismiss Tutor's lawsuit. But just as quickly, Tutor's lawyer filed a similar motion against the airport.

Winmill will hold a hearing Monday in Boise.

Tutor says he's been using a smaller Gulfstream jet to land in Hailey.
