I84 Ten Mile Road Interchange
I-84, Ten Mile Road Interchange
Project Number: A009(815)
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has constructed a new I-84 interchange at Ten Mile Road in Meridian. The project will relieve congestion at the existing I-84 Meridian Road Interchange and improve access to the growing area west of Meridian Road.
This project included a new interchange at Ten Mile Road and several improvements to the surrounding roadways. Improvements included widening Ten Mile Road from two to four lanes between Overland and Franklin roads.
The new interchange is a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI). A SPUI has one traffic signal at the center that allows for protected left turns in each direction. Click here to download a map and driving directions.
In 2001, the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and ITO completed a cooperative planning effort called the I-84 Corridor study. The study examined the transportation system needs I-84 corridor from the WYE Interchange to Idaho 44 west of Caldwell. The study recommended specific improvements that warranted further evaluation and implementation. The recommendation was included in the COMPASS study.
Preliminary design was completed in March 2008 and final design and right-of-way were completed in April 2009. Construction began in July 2009 and substantial completion was achieved July 2011.
