This project widened a two-mile section of I-84 from Franklin Boulevard to Garrity Boulevard in Nampa to a third lane in each direction. Additionally, the project replaced the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass and the Phyllis Canal Overpass.
In 2001, the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and ITO completed a cooperative planning effort called the I-84 Corridor study. The study examined the transportation system needs I-84 corridor from the WYE Interchange to Idaho 44 west of Caldwell. The study recommended specific improvements that warranted further evaluation and implementation. The recommendation was included in the COMPASS study.
Preliminary design was completed in April 2009. The right-of-way acquisition and final design were completed in April 2010 Construction on this project began in June 2010 and reached substantial completion in January 2012.
